What a turnout! We raised $16,500 for the Watson LEAP Preschool. I'd like to thank everyone involved, whether you're an organizer, a sponsor, a volunteer, a donor, a runner or a walker. It turned out to be a wonderful event that honered Lisa's life and raised money for a great cause. You can find results here. Lastly, if you are expecting a t-shirt, we will email you when they are finished.
On June 29th, 2010, the world lost the best damn woman I've ever seen.
The day before, a young man driving under the influence blew a stop sign and hit Lisa while she was out running with two of our three children in a jogging stroller. As any mother would, her last instinct was to push our children out of the path of the vehicle and sacrifice herself.
The event served to commemorate Lisa's life and support a worthy cause. She was a dedicated runner, a doting mother, a loving wife, and a kick-ass human being; she was fun embodied. All proceeds of the race will go directly to the Watson Institute's LEAP Preschool, which helps autistic children interact with their typical-developing peers.
Many generous local businesses donated money, products and their time to the race. Please check the details page to see a list of raffle items and post-race activities.
Also, if you couldn't attend and would simply prefer to donate money, please visit the donations page.
Thanks!,
Brett Styles
